Okay, so some of you know I plan on having a retaining wall behind my pond, I went out and took this picture so you could see why.

The back of the pond isn't totally level with the front because our yard is sloped.....Mark put the sod from the hole of the pond around the back edge to boost it up to equal the front.....Well it's settled some and the weather has eroded it a bit....so I want a retaining wall all the way around the back bed and then filled in with soil to boost it up exactly level with the front. I guess we'd run the wall around the sides too.....See the chain link fence? That's where me and my elderly neighbor always meet for our daily chats.

And here is a different view, just because.

The big trellis thing has Thunbergia (black eyes susan vine) planted at the base of each section....Can't wait for that to grow up on there!

ohhhhhhh loz - I love thunbergia but I don't have much luck growing it here.

Your pond looks great and a retaining wall is a good idea.
What will you make it from?

By the way... Don got some stuff at the pond store last week that cleared up our algae really well. He has to put it in every three days the first week, and then a small amount each week for maintenance, but what a difference it made after the first application!!! It's called Algae Fix and it's by PondCare. It's safe for koi and goldfish and won't harm other plants.

I have some Thunbergia in the bird cage planter Diane sent me too.

Hopefully it does well, if not there is always the standby morning glories that pop up all over my yard. I like them, but wow do they ever come up all over the place.

I think the retaining wall will be out of some kind of brick from walmart....I was looking at them the other day and I know that it's going to be pricey to do, but I want it done. Mark, being a man that's cheap, thinks it's fine the way it is.

I must have that algae fix....I need it bad. I will be looking into that for sure......so you can see in the pond much better?

Oh an I'd like a waterfall of some kind coming down the back middle into the pond....I think that would be neat and my pump has an auxillary place to run tubing from it.

Yep - we can see MUCH better into the pond after just the first application!

Don bought a bunch of concrete blocks to run around the base of the hill where the waterfall is at Home Depot. He did this without discussing it with me - it wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but he says we won't really see them - we shall see!!!

Do you have Home Depot there? Our WalMart doesn't carry that stuff - as I have mentioned numerous times before, it's the smallest one in their company and it really stinks!

You'll have to take a picture to show me what you mean.

I'm excited, I read reviews too of that Algae Fix on Amazon and the 3 reviewers love it too. I NEED that stuff BAD.

We don't have Home Depot here, just a Lowes....but our Walmart is a Super Walmart with a nice garden section built onto it and they have about 3 different retaining wall bricks out in the parking lot with the other pavers and mulch and stuff. We really never need to go to the mall anymore, and we usually don't. It's 20 miles away, Walmart is 6 miles away. So we live at Walmart practically.
