I just LOVE fishing too! I have to literally throw a fit and drag the fam to go, but once they're there, I sometimes have to drag them back home and they talk about it for days. Fresh or salt water...what's everyones favorite?

I fish freshwater;the ocean's 3 hrs.away and we can't afford to go over there.Over here in CA there's no salmon fishing season this year;there were so few salmon spawning that Fish and Game decided to cancelo salmon fishing this year.Only fish I could catch were stripers.

Salmon in CA? I've always thought they were only in Alaska?
Were only a couple of hours from the gulf. I prefer salt water. you can ALWAYS catch something in saltwater! so, why the drop off in salmon spawning? did fish and game have any theories?

Global Warming, pollution, overfishing, predators, some sort of disease may be why there are few salmon this year.

Cricket,it's every fisherman's dream to go fishing in Alaska or Canada;there are plenty of areas where people rarely fish where the fish are huge and abundant, there's no pollution, and where the waters are clear and pristine.

hhmmmm.....around here the big lakes are overfished, and the small ones are someones' private property. Well.........or you need a boat. I guess when you don't have a boat your kinda limited.

we have public "lakes" that are only very large ponds, some real public lakes, and are 45 minutes from the atlantic ocean. i read about the salmon, i know you can salmon fish all along the pacific coast, but i wouldn't want to. i prefer salmon to be a treat rather than just groceries. fish i catch becomes just groceries. good stuff, but ordinary.

we used to do a lot of crappie fishing at night with lighted corks. now, THAT was a lot of fun! my favorite saltwater fish to catch are sheep head. they can really put up a fight.

Just went out fishing to a local river last weekend.I got several bites but no fish and my dad caught a bluegill(or bream). It was a female since when I opened up its belly it was full of eggs.It was delicious.I'm going out again for bluegills on the river again or to some other lake for stripers or rainbow trout.

that's cool. i like eating fish, and if you have a worm bed, it is cheap eating after you get started.
