My neighbor gave me and mom ours........I had no clue that they would do so well over winter outside, but my neighbor insisted they did...and they do!

She gave me those last year because the ones I had in my other bed actually flowered and then pretty much died. She said in all her years of growing them none of hers had ever flowered....it was neat to see. Luckily she has tons of them and gave me more.

Well see, once they flower the mother "hen" dies.....and the few chicks that were around it just never made it....but it was cool to watch it flower---it grew up really tall.....

They don't mind the cold...they overwinter here as well.....they are surely tough. I've weed-whacked them by mistake a few times

It seems thought that they only bloom once every couple of years though.

I can't find any around here except already in containers and they are very expensive - because of the containers. I saw some more at Home Depot today but they were in ceramic containers for $12.00. I hope the ones Dodge sent me multiply.

Mine all do multiply.......The green gets larger than the red .. I am short on green.. Dont know why?

Let me know how yours make out.

I only have red to spare , Jiffy if your desperate.

Your so amusing..
Soon as you see little projections on the sides..They are at it.........

I have mine for years, so I dont really watch them.. They love it by my chimney.

In bad soil.. more like shale there.
