Pinkhorseofcourse Pinkhorseofcourse Wild Willow Great Gardener Registered: 04/17/06 Posts: 692 Loc: Rolling Hills of SE Ohio	My daughter was out in our pasture and found this.. I don't know what to think of it. It is whole and whatever is in it is still alive. She felt it moving around when she was holding it in her hand. Anyone?? I don't know Bill.. seems odd a Sea Bird would be in our neck of the woods. And Courtney has found clam shells in the field before.. but never a whole clam. So what do we do with it now??? I live in the desert a good hundred miles from the ocean and we get gulls here all of the time. Specially when the weather out to sea is bad. I mean not close.. but I suppose if you get them living in the desert it is certainly possible for us to have them too.. it just seems so funny. And they don't smell too nice when they die. If there is a live clam and you aren't attempting to keep it alive, when you apply heat and the shell will open. You can toss it in boiling water or on a grill if you happen to have a lit one around. If it is alive it will open. If it is not alive, it won't.
