I have relatively new string trimmer... but for the life of me I cannot seem to manage the string! I load it and use it for only 5 minutes or so and the strings are reduced to mere stubbles. Admittedly I am sometimes using it as an edger and so it's striking pavement, but this is not that often. Also, I don't seem to be able to have it let out new string by tapping its base down on the ground. Finally, loading new string is obviously a 3 handed job and alas I was born with only two. CAn anyone help? Oh! I have tried different gauges of string, but nothing seems to help.

Take your trimmer to a local Chainsaw shop. They'll set you up with a heavy duty line and the right size. That's what I did and was amazed at the difference. Well worth the $20.

Tamara, thanks for the advice. Do you reccomend this over just buying heavier line and installing it yourself. I've done this with no change in performance...

Yup, because they try it there. If it doesn't work they don't sell it to you, they keep trying different line til they get the right one.
