It probably is a mini tree also......Not worth the gamble..

Hey.........Got the seeds today...........Thanks for them.
I put the Magnolias in the freezer..

Others I will try to grow inside..

Becky gets her mail after work, she should have gotten it by then..
I will let you know

You did a good job with corners.. I also use empty tea bag holder for seeds.
Any thing goes.....

yea i now enrique! and it didn't look that well either! i don't thing it was a miniature its about 5'0 so maybe a dwarf... but yea its a rip off when u get get a lil fruit tree plant thats growing at homde depot i think for 4 bucks... no i do not have any fruit trees pinkhorse, i used to when i was little we used to have 1 orange tree it had the best oragnes the tree mustve been really old becuas eit was huge but our neighbor made us cut it down saying the leaves got in their yard but instead of making a scene we cut it down but it reprouted haha! then we had 2 grapefruit treess.... at my gmas house now though she has 2 grapefruit trees 3 oragnce trees one loquat tree and a lemon tree... she used to have though at her old house 14 orange trees and 5 grape fruit trees and 2 lemon trees and 1 lime tree. lol but her yard isnt as big now... and i would buy fruit trees for 4 bucks but their not dwarf and we rent so im not going to put a big growing tree like that in a yard thats not mine and it would be hard to dig up...

I have 3 peach trees in my yard......from my dads trees across the street...he's always finding new peach trees growing around the yard and I've been taking them off his hands....the tallest is only about 4 foot though so they have a few more years to grow yet. Testy trees, dad has had several totally die from frosts hitting them in the spring.

I just saw a doughnut peach tree in the Park Seed catalog.. anyone know much about it?? It says it is entirely self fertile.. so I wouldn't have to mess with different varieties.. I know nothing about peach trees.. as far as what is a good kind to get.. anyone have any suggestions as far as varieties that are better than others?? Thanks!

Pinkhorse, look for a few more nursery listings online for Gala apples and see what they say about pollinators. It may be that they consider Golden Delicious the best pollinator, but there are probably others almost as good.
ALL peaches are self-fertile, so go with what sounds good to you. Elberta is probably the most popular, and I can say that it's fantastic. Red Haven is excellent. I've seen both of these at Lowe's and Wal-Mart in past years. Buy them before they begin to blossom or leaf out for best transplanting. Dwarf fruit trees are more productive for their size, and tend to fruit within a year or 2 from planting. Semi-dwarf are preferred over standard.

Ok, thanks Dave!! I will probably go with the Elberta Peaches if I can find them.. you said you have seen them at Wal-Mart and Lowe's.. that is good, cause I have both locally.

When is a good time to get them?? I don't want to wait until they are all picked over.. but it is snowing tons here right now.. so not a good time to plant.

As soon as they get them in, you can plant...when it stops snowing!

Nothing will. You can only pollinate plants of the seame species e.g. winter squash & summer squash will cross pollinate each other.

Pinkhourse; we got our fruit trees from Stark bros--I tell you this because that is the only place I have ever found the lodi apple that I loved so much.
and I have seen other 'lodi' apples for sale in the area and i was so happy to see them, but when I got them home they were not the apple I had grown.--so I am guessing tht starks was/is a bit different. but from them, it was a wonderful apple.

1)we had an Elberta queen peach out at the farm---
2)and we also had a Reliance peach
---(my peach trees didn't do so very well--it is too cold here for them I guess.--but the Elberta queen made a wonderful pie as well.
3) a Jon-a-red apple--it made very good pies.
4) a Lodi --it made the very best applesauce, but don't wait for the apples to turn 'yellow' --when they are that ripe they are not even good eating apples.

we had 2 pear trees too but I cannot find the papers for them, so sorry I cannot help you there.
