Have you thought of having a pond though for real? I guess you could put a little picket fence around it to keep her out...

Solar is the way to go, can't get enough of things magically being lit up here and there throughout the yard.

I'd like to have a pond too. Just a little one with a water fall of some sort. Maybe some day.

I went to the web site of the biggest pool place in Charlotte and they don't even have solar lighting, just battery operated. It's pretty and colorful but I'd rather have solar.

You two should go for it with a pond....mine isn't too hard to keep up.

Diane, just get out there with a shovel and start....then he'd have to finish it!

I dug my little pond. It is not hard. It took me 3 months but I did it. It is only 6 x 8 with a little waterfall. I put one of the solar balls in it and it is pretty at night.

If I can do you can do it. I am glad you went back. You would have kicked yourself this summer when you see all the places you could have used them.

Did you do it by yourself Cinta? I can do a small one myself. Did you have a kit?

Yes I did it myself. One shovel load of soil at a time. LOL.

I brought one of those preform ponds. I dug out the hole deep enough about 4'down 6' wide. I put some water on the soil to make it softer to dig in. I had a new retaining wall put in and saved the rocks from the old wall to make the waterfall.

I cannot wait to move. The new/old house has a swimming pool and I am going to have it filled in and I can have a big pond without digging. I am going to make the pool house into a greenhouse.

Cool, Aud. In the new pond you can also have drainage in it. That can be awesome if you ever want to redo your pond. Our pond in on a level part of a hillside and we can siphon most of the water out. But John always kicked himself for not setting up a bottom drain. We have taken ours apart twice because we got a nasty algae or something in it. Had to thoroughly clean all those rocks and the liner with bleach before we put it back together. Put the fish into the hot tub until it was done.

I will go to Lowe's and see if they have "pond kits" and dig myself one. How did you dig your water line to it?

You do not need a waterline. I just filled it up with the hose. It took about 1/2 hour.

I only emptied mine once in 8 years. I got a siphone that you use for the fish tank, put the end that drained in the rose garden (boy those roses loved it bloomed like crazy).

I buy the feeder goldfish 20 for 2.00 and the snails keep my water pretty clean. I have waterlilies, iris growing in the pond.

I found another good deal today,,I won't say how much they were because someone is getting these sent to them,, and I sent off a few boxes today, sooo you'll have to wait and see,,
these 3 solar butterflys change colors,, I have them on the fence the clematis are climbing on,, I didn't know they changed colors untill a while ago I went out and looked to see if I had them out long enough to charge and start up,, , I thought One was green, one red and one Blue,, Nice surprise they alternate,,! I don't know IF I'll leave all three on the fence,, ,,
Loz,, I definitely am starting to look like a landing strip here in the back yard,, I can't resist the solar lights either!!
