Okay folks, I just fell in love with this tree first time I saw it. Actually, my first look at a Royal Poinciana was on an old postcard I purchased years back. One of my hobbies is collecting vintage postcards of topical interest. And of course old gardens, plants, trees, arbors PCs etc. are of utmost interest to me.

Thought I would share with you my postcard.

The top reads: Royal Poinciana in full Bloom - Florida

Here is the reverse.

The card is a linen and circa 30's.

What a way to learn about plants and trees, via an old beautiful postcard.

Anyone out there has a Royal Poinciana in their yard?

Would love to see pics or hear about it.

Hi Jiffy, I know, aren't they cool? I just googled your "flame or fire tree", similar.

Hi tamara, thanks, and I will do just that. Stay tuned.

I'd like to try my luck with this tree, pushing my zone as I am 9a and according to the read, they thrive in 9b - 10. I also would have to pot the tree as well.

Anyone out there lucky enough to have a Royal Poinciana tree in their yard? Okay Florida people, you would be most likely!

Yes, I've seen many in real life! In Abaco, Bahamas, these trees are in full regalia every summer in the heat of July! They are so gorgeous! Here's a few pix.

I think these are also called pride of barbados or mexican bird of paridise. I tried growing them from seed but they don't grow that well, quite fast actually

keylimegal,
Great shots of Royal Poinciana! Thanks so much for sharing with us! Didn't know they are grown in Bahamas. Love the closeup too.

Kenny,
Those you mentioned, i.e. pride of barbados, or mexican bird of paradise are the dwarf poincianas. I did not know there are dwarf poincianas. That might actually work for me but I sure to love the gorgeous Royal Poinciana trees!
Thanks for your input.

Sorry yours failed dodge. Do you know if you had seed for Royal Poinciana or the dwarf version that Kenney mentioned?

Hey Jiffy , that would be great if you can get seed. Let us know if you can!
