My mother in law's 5 year old red currant bush produces an abundance of flowers and berries, but almost all the berries don't have a chance to ripen, they fall off while green. She does have the bush in a shaded area. Does anyone know what could be wrong? This has been happening every year.

Hmm, I've heard of it before. They call it 'run-off' but I thought it only happened in Black currants. Other than that..I am at a loss.

Oh and currants like morning sun and afternoon part shade so that shouldn't be the problem.

Tamara thanks. I couldn't help but notice your signature, I'm also waiting for my first grand-babies (twins) the mother's name is (coincidently same as yours Tamara) and her due date is August the 9th as well. Though she may go into labor sooner as she can hardly walk now because of the weight and has another month and 1/2 to go.

All the best for your new mom-to-be along with the baby for a fast labor and smooth delivery and a bouncy healthy baby. It won't be long now.
