Isn't it a shame that those wonderful blooms only last 1 day???

I love the lavender and pink ones. I have some like a few of yours. I think they are fun to collect and they are easy to grow. This is one I have that I like a lot. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c354/Gail21676/daylily.jpg

Alan, I bought that daylily on eBay. I was amazed you could buy plants on eBay. I read on the Internet how to pollinate your daylilies to make your own hybrids and then sprout the seeds. I now have a couple of my own hybrids. Nothing too spectacular but it very satisfying to know I had a hand in the cultivating of those two lilies. it was fun even if it did take a long time.

Dodge- 2 of them are reblooming. The others only bloom once, but a few of them bloom for at least 2 months.

skippy- I thought I would try my hand at making my own hybrid this time. I already have a few seed pods...just waiting for them to mature. Did you start the seeds in late summer/fall or wait until the following spring?

I couldn't wait so I started them right away. I get so excited about daylilies. I got a large orange hybrid and a red one. I haven't tried anything with my fancy ruffled edge ones yet. I have some seeds for this year but I didn't do the pollination the insects must've done it. I am going to try sprouting those seeds as I have lots of room for more daylilies. It will be a surprise!

Thank you. It is called Belle Cook. It needs to grow a little more and then I can divide some off. I have 2 more that are similar except for color. One has white with a yellow edge and one is sort of light gold with a darker gold edge. I guess I was taken with ruffled edges when I bought those. I got a peach colored double from Home Depot which I planted all around a little patio and it smells SOooo good. It is really nice to sit out there.
