My wife and I wanted to try some strawberrys this year so here it goes. We bought 5 "ever bearing" plants at our local Walmart, or was it Home Deopt?!....any who. They have been doing good so far, good growth/shoots plenty of flowers, etc. During my dredded root maggot infestation they seemed to be the only plants not much effected (except a lttle leaf roll...which has gone away). The only problem is the fruit isn't getting very big before it ripens. I have heard that usually the first year the fruit tends to run on the small to useless side. This is true? I would appreciate any other tips and tricks anyone who has some strawberry experience has.

This was my first year too, so I don't have any experience. But I did find this site full of useful information. In Maryland, it should apply to you as well.

Good luck!
