If not too late to this post-- use bing maps, google earth, or some other satellite imagery to get a "birdseye" view of your property. Often these images were taken at different times of the year, and so you can see the shade affects of your trees.

They are finicky about watering...make sure the soil dries out on top before watering again. They'll turn brown fast if over watered.

I think i have something similar in my garden too... I had no idea they were good for plants but i found it gross to squash them and usually i don't use any insecticide, so that's why they had been spared till now. It's a relief to know this though,

the field--now there is an idea--I think I may call the guy who owns the field in back of me, perhaps he would let me grow mine there---otherwise I only have an 8 ft stretch that I can use.
