Hey all,

So in my yard we have these weeds. Actually, half the yard IS these weeds. Someone told us awhile ago they were castor beans, but that's totally wrong now that I've looked at pictures of it. When the plant starts to grow, it looks a lot like rhubarb except all green. Once it gets larger, it shoots upwards on big, thick stalks and some can get up over 6 feet tall! They have purple flowers that turn into brown burrs that stick on everything.

Does anyone know what this is? I figure if I know that, it's half the battle of eradicating it. I've already gotten between 1/2 and 1/3rd of it pulled up, but that's just a bandaid, because these suckers grow fast, and I think they propagate from roots as well as seeds.

Any insight is helpful. Thanks!

Peace and Soybeans,

I don't know, that does sorta sound like castor beans to me. A pic would be quite helpful. I know you asked for insight and that really wasn't it, sorry. lol

Well, the shape of the leaves is all wrong. The height might be right, but the leaves are shaped more like rhubarb--the spade shape of cards.

I could post a picture. I'm having trouble finding the USB card reader for my camera, though.
