We had a tough time of it tonight! By the time we got up there to the stores, two of the three places I wanted to shop were closed early because it was Sunday! I did make a quick run into Wal-Mart though. So we didn't get Maxi's cross-trainers or his desk chair! So our young friend Nissi *Angel's daughter* is coming back tomorrow while I am at dialysis & will take him to the sport shoe place & get those. Then she will drop him off at his dad's which is right nearby & spare them the long drive down here. She will keep my bank card & give it to her mom Angel to return to me so I don't have to worry about Edward & his shenannagans. We had a good time tonight, though. We haven't seen Nissi since she drove us to Boston for the Washington trip. She is a nice young woman & interesting to speak with. I pay her handsomely & usually treat her to dinner or lunch because like many young people, she doesn't have $$ to spare & always eats catch as catch can. Tonight we went to Denny's -- a chain which is sorta a cross between a diner and a sandwich shop. You can eat a good, hot meal for very little. We ate well & talked nonstop! Nissi is interesting to look at also. She is a big girl -- she plays in a football league! And, she has startlingly beautiful blue eyes, very delicate dark brows and lonnnnng thick black lashes many women would kill for. Her eyes are so lovely, they are breathtaking. Smart as a whip, too. So, it was all very nice except for the wrecked shopping part. I will finish up Maxi's things after I get back from the hospital Wednesday night. Has anyone seen Bestofour or OpalRose?

Good morning. A warmer day but still 'cool' by my usual standards. I'll take it.

Giood morning---75 and overcast out here today. I have been out & weeded watered & took up all but 3 of my sunflowers. Oh and I harvested a few more seed heads as well. heading to teh shower now--then my first cup of coffee . after which I need to call & make an appointment with a lady to look up property values for me. I am being taxed to death.

Let us not talk about property taxes, Hmmm? Mine doubled this year. I got back from taking Ted to school and then worked on the entrance planter on the ranch next door. It wasn't a pleasant approach so I prettied it up. And now my daughter who is working in the office today can see who is coming up the road. There is more to be done but not until someone is around to plant the things I need to dig up. But all of the topiary shrubbery has had a haircut and the weeds are gone. I ate and I am a satisfied person right now.

Hi All, I did a couple chores I have been putting off today- sent for a death cert for my Mom so I can get the proceeds from her life insurance policy... didn't even know she had one still- but guess she paid it off a long time ago and named me as benificiary... my sis is hinting I should share it with her... we will see after I figure out just how much I spent on the funeral and how much more the memorial in Yuma will be when we inter her ashes and fix my step dads crypt... I mostly feel sad that she feels so entitled to every penny mom ever had... but there is anger too and I am trying to get rid of it.... tell you what my house is cleaner then ever with me working it off...! It's nice here today- only 81* and breezy... feels nice... I am giving up coffee again - just haven't wanted any lately so got to remind Joe not to make so much in the AM...
I like to keep to reuse too but also want to downsize a lot of our stuff... packing our other house after 18 yrs there took forever .. this house is bigger and I have just as much or more stuff now... so want to get a start on getting it out or to the kids or just gone. Well off to get started doing something constructive-- all these free mornings are nice but not used to it yet.... Nana

Nana: I hate that when people are like that. your mom made you the sole benificiary for a reason. Your sister should realize that. sounds to me like you will have no money left after payiong all of that anyway. I say your mom gave it to you. & as such your sister is entitled to nothing from it.--unless she wants to pay for half of the bills??? HUH???
going to eat lunch now--see ya all later--bye

hi everyone. Merme, I saw that you were asking about my where abouts. Thanks for thinking of me. I've been checking the forum but not posting a lot lately. Work has been unusually busy and I've been coming home and taking a nap before I go to bed.
We got our property tax bill out of the mailbox Saturday and it's doubled too.

My prayers will be with you, merme. Sheri--Tina: gee I dont feel so badly now---see my issue is they say my home is worth a lot more than i could ever get for it. esp. in view of the fact that I am on "the poor end of town" and we have the town shed/rock storage area-dump behind about 1 lots worth away. plus behind that is the town lagoon. There is no way I will ever get what they say my house is worth. so they lowered my taxes upon my appeal year before last then raised the multiplyer & then raised the value mid year---so now my house is really out-valued once again. But we are still only talking about another 500 dollars here--becaue you see our taxes are very high in this county in the first place. And they have the notion that we are in a new subdivision--when we are in fact 1/4 of a previous field. There is one other new home next to us & the rest (1/2 a field--2 lots--) is empty field area that seperates us and the town stuff. But at least my taxes did not double-- --so I will stop saying anything about taxes. My sympathies to you both.

Having a rough night here but using the time getting ready for tomorrow. My girl said her car can't go on the highway (something is wrong with it), so I double-checked how to get to town avoiding all the roads with a speed greater than 50. It might take a while but we'll get there! I am not allowed to eat or drink so if I'm up much longer, I may just go ahead & get my shower. Or... I might just go lay back down!

JunieGirl, you are so funny. My friend used to live in a field. When she gave people directions she'd tell them "the house in the field." My house isn't even in a neighborhood, no sidewalks or street lights, well water and power lines are overhead and the tax man still think it's worth a lot. If I could sell it for what the tax man says it's worth I'd move tomorrow.
Merme, I would have to be in bed if I couldn't eat or drink.

My property that doubled is not where I live. I have 20 unimproved acres out in the hilly desert. And it probably is worth about what it is assessed as. I am trying not to whine about it. We will put it on the market eventually.

Well Sheri, my "field" is on a dead end street and with the exception of 2 other new houses all the sorta neighboting houses are not new & a few are downright rough looking. No sidewalks--but I do have 1 street light on this "street" it is a 1 lane, rock & oli road that should be 2 lane for how people use it. It seems when the guy petitionsed to break up the field into 4 parcels they made him call it a subdivision but it was at one time labeled "____ sub-divisdion--not in a sub-division" but this county wants its $$$---so oh well.... Going to bed soon everyone--sleep well.....

Good morning Tina--thanks for the well wishes of last night. It rained heavily this morning (1 inch in my rain gauge) and I am glad to say that my basement is dry--so far. now I am off to get ready to go out to breakfast with a friend & then I will take my MIL to run some errands. Thankfully supper is in the slow cooker.

Nana, our Goodwill sells VHS tapes. I have been busy outdoors. I just need one more trip down the hill with the branches I've been trimming and I will call it a day. There will be less face-slappers and hair-grabbers up there to work around.

Thanks Tina, I will donate them to Goodwill with the rest of the stuff we are donating... it's mostly Barney and Wiggles .. so others that we already have too.. Disney stuff.. You have been working hard on your property.. bet it feels good to get it done and be outdoors too.. I hung my new curtains today in my bedroom and added the blackout drapes to the guest room windows... east facing windows are very bright at 5 in the mornings... Joe went to doc today, he made an appt for his surgery the 5 of Oct, doc told him he would be hurting for about 6 weeks but could probably go to work after 5 days, seems awfully early to me... but he is doing it as laproscope surgery...so we will see.. Well got a basket full of clothes to fold and put away.. then think I will be taking a shower.. my allergies are giving me fits so took a benadryl and now I am tired ... it's only 6 and I am ready to sleep.... Hi everybody! Gee Nana Sherri you are as busy as ever! Thanks for letting us know about Joe's surgery on 10/5. We will be praying hard! Candles lit. We had a heat wave here on the coast... the first real heat wave on the shore since 1999. We usually get a good sea breeze blowing which drops the temperature on the immediate coast although it can stay hot just a bit inland. But for three days we were over 90 and very very humid. Even now, after 11 PM, it is still 77. But Storms are blowing up from down south, and late this afternoon you could feel the change in the air. The wind was still blowing but it didn't feel like a furnace! YAY! They say the hurricanes could hit here Thursday/Friday, so we are trying to be prepared. I'm glad Bestofour is okay and I hope that tiredness isn't indicative of illness?! Anyone hear from OpalRose? Maxi is very happy with his air mattress he will use until I can get his bed fixed. Then it will be nice to have for company. Tonight I dug out the very old -- meaning original -- Star Wars sheet set and put them on the mattress. I told him he could have Luke & Darth & C3PO as roomies. He laughed. Those sheets are so old they are very thin but ohsowonderfully soft!!

Morning, I talked to my son and he is going to come spend the night before Joe's surgery and be our driver... he has turned out to be a really good kid- almost 40 but still my kid LOL! that took one worry off my mind.. Got my curtains up yesterday and old ones washed ... looks so much nicer in my bedroom now... everything matches again... Carrie is at her New house getting the inspection done- hopefully no big things to hold things up... if we can get repairs and painting done at rental house and her landlord can re- rent it they won't have to pay off their lease... got 3 holes in wall(thankyou Joseph) and 2 doors to replace also Joseph- he is working off paying for those, and need to paint 2 rooms and clean the boys room carpet,,, it is very stained but hopefully we can get it clean enough .. if not he has their dep to replace it. WEll off to get busy and see what I can get up too today. Nana

Sounds good on the houses, Nana. Except maybe the walls and doors? And great of your son to be the designated driver too. I am off to shop for a few things then pick up my son from school.

I have been on the run since I left the hospital yesterday morning. Tomorrow isn't going to be any better! I have to leave here at 8, drive up to the grocery store 25 minutes north of here & meet my EX's girlfriend. She is going to pick up Maxi & my bank card, take him to the school & pick up his book order. Then she is going to drive him back to the grocery & give me my card back so I can leave the store! Then I gotta pay bills and drop Maxi off at the house by 11 so I can jump on the van for dialysis. Edward's girlfriend has to drop her son off for therapy at 9 and also get to her own bank, so it is going to be a lot of fleet as the wind tomorrow morning for all of us! I don't feel so good tonight, so I'm going to have some hot tea and lay down.

Good night, Carol. I am going to shut down and defrag my computer. It hasn't been done in forever and may take hours. Or not. I dunno.....

Carol I didn't mean to be confusing.
The issue is, my girl won't take me to Maxi's new school tomorrow although I am paying for gas. Since we HAVE to get there by 10 to get his books, I am going 1/2 way -- as far as the grocery store -- where my girl IS willing to drive to. My EX'S girlfriend will drive the other 1/2 way & meet us, get the books and meet us again. The girlfriend can't simply pick up the books because they cost $268 and so I have to give her my bank card first.
In that way my girl won't have to go where she is refusing AND my EX's girlfriend will not have to make the big drive twice tomorrow morning. As it is, I'm already giving her gas money for the 1/2 way trips but at least I'm not paying for two full way trips.
And, while I'm waiting, I can get the groceries we so badly need. Which is also why I'm not riding along. I have to get groceries and the books but have a limited amount of time because I must be back here by 11 to leave for dialysis!

Hi everyone! Haven't really been around much this week. I came down with a cold starting last Sunday and spent a lot of time sleeping Sunday and Monday. Was still pretty wiped out on Tuesday and went to bed early. Last night we went grocery shopping so I didn't get to get on the computer much. Today at work was super busy, my feet are killing me and my feet hardly ever hurt. I was on my feet for most of the day. I only had a chance to sit down long enough to type up the schedules for tomorrow, then I got to sit long enough to print them, then I had to sit and help the dental hygienist with a resident. I ate while I worked today and survived on a banana, some coconut m&m's and a snickers. I was too tired to make my dinner tonight, Aros and the kids got caesar salad and pasta with meatballs. It was the easiest thing that I could cook that kept me off my feet. All I had some salad and baked beans, it was all I had in the cupboard. Tomorrow I'll make my spaghetti squash pesto shrimp primavera. For tonight, I think this is appropriate.

Sorry you haven't felt well, Cheryl. Glad you are on the mend!
We are on watch for tropical storm Earl (by the time it gets here Friday night). A watch means winds up to 39 mph & a warning is winds 39-73 mph. The storm is losing speed as it travels north & they are forecasting it to be downgraded by the time it reaches us.
Even so, beaches have been closed because of the very rough surf and many cruise liners have been making port today --- far earlier than originally scheduled -- to get out of the path of the storm & keep passengers safe.
Maine's coastline curves out to the east as it goes north so the more northerly areas are also more easterly. Which is why midcoast Maine is called "Downeast". Those in that area around Penobscot Bay are expecting the brunt of the storm tomorrow even though the governor has issued storm preparedness alerts to all coastal regions. I'm glad I will be home from dialysis & Maxi won't be alone when the storm hits as they are expecting power outtages and whatnot.

'morning. I would say 'good' but I have been up for over 45 minutes. it is beautiful out--& I am hot. as I have had no "heat" issues before so I thionk it is the new "woman's" vitamins I am taking. I think I will stop them today--- As DH said I really can't have a fan going all winter (or can I?? ) Merme---aaah I see now--I was really just wondering why you were not riding along---but now that makes complete sense. I started to say why do you have to pay for maxi's books. But I now remember the girls had a large enrollment/book fee due the first part of the year---so we too "bought books". Cheryl---glad you are feeling better now. Tina---I hope your computer is all better now. I have mine on a regular defragment schedule--or so it says....I have my doubts. I need to go and run some errands later today, so I will not be around much. I wish everyone a good day.
