Have any of you downloaded the new Google Earth5? If so, what do you think of it or enjoy doing most?

For those of you who don't know, Google Earth5 is a free program from Google which allows you to tour the earth and outer space. You can even go deeply under the sea or to the moon! While you are "touring" you can record your trip and add audio, save it or share it with friends. You can go back in time and see how an area looked previously. You can track sunlight over a specific area (like if you had a new yard & wanted to see how the sun moved across it before planting). I think there is a feature which allows you to work in 3D as well, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm having a fascinating time playing with this highly educational program and am just wondering what you other gardeners think of it.

This morning I found out that Maxi had learned an earlier version of this at school. He appreciates the upgrade of 5.

We went on and took a different look at our beach. It was fascinating because I have one perspective of it in my head from years of being on the beach itself and I have another perspective of it from maps. Yet this GoogleEarth5 perspective showed me an entirely different view of the area that made me say "ohhhhhhhh, no wonder! and I never realized....!"

Sounds like something my grandson and I would enjoy. I'll have to download it.

They have even recorded some of Jacques Cousteau's underwater trips. So today I am going undersea with Jacques Cousteau! How cool is that?!

Yes, Sheri, I think your grandson would enjoy fooling around doing this with you. Yesterday I had so much fun in Sweden and the northern shorelines and I never left Old Orchard Beach! If you see a square on the map & hover your cursor it will tell you the name of the town & some of its history and even offer panaramic photos. This is neat sweet!
