Hello everyone! I own a flat in London and I would like to plant Ivy on it's outside wall. My problem is that the sidewalk comes right up to the side of the flat. Any suggestions as to how to get the Ivy started? I've considered a planter box but we are not at the flat frequently enough to keep it watered and I am afraid it might get vandalized. Any suggestions? Thank You

I know this might sound horrible but is there any way to dig a piece of the concrete out? Hi and welcome by the way
~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt. ![[Linked Image from agardenersforum.com]](//www.agardenersforum.com/images/psd/sunny.jpg)

is there ivy growing elsewhere on your street. If it's a good place for ivy you hardly need dirt at all for it to take root. You can place a little bit of dirt along the base of the wall and plant and water and it will take off. We put in a stone wall a few months ago on a concrete driveway and I keep having to pull ivy out of the cracks. The only dirt is dirt that has blown there which is a scant amount.

Is there any way to put a long narrow plpanter against the building. If its big enough you wouldn't have to worry too much about it driying out too much.
