my grandson found this baby robin in the middle of our back yard,, We don't know how it got there, or how long it had been there.
An adult robin was in the tree just screaming over and over again. I really didn't know what to do,, But My Grandson took over,, we couldn't see a nest anywhere, due to the thick Leaves in the trees. He got some water and let some drip off his fingers into the little one's mouth.
I ran inside and got some dried mill worms and soaked them and smashed them up and we feed the little bird. we went out a couple hours later and He fed it again.
Tre' then got an old flower pot and put in twigs and grass cuttings and placed the robin in it. The little one seems in better condition by this time and even chirped a couple of times.
Anyone know what to do? Keep feeding it? Keep it in the flowerpot?<( layed sideways)
here is a short clip of Him feeding it,, but he feed it a mill worm that wasn't soaked enough and the robin spit it out lol
CLick on Picture to see film

Mother bird will continue to feed the bird if she can get to it. Just need to keep it safe from critters if possible, cats, dogs, etc.

Tina we have it on the patio Table maybe we should move it?? Closer to a tree maybe? I'm afraid to have it too low to the ground for fear Emmy will "get it" nervous

Lynne had just the right word for that video clip, Diane: "precious". It truly is!

I would worry about 1) critters and 2) the baby getting cold.

I hope the little one continues to do well.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

If the mother bird does not come back or something has happened to her there is a fantastic bird rehibilatation in Hutchins Texas. I have taken hurt and abandoned bird to them and they are wonderful. Here is the link:

Baby Robins USUALLY leave the nest BEFORE they can fly. The parents continue to feed the babies and teach them to fly, once they are OUT OF THE NEST. This baby Robin is just the right age to leave the nest, but not quite old enough to fly well, but it should do just fine as long as a predator doesn't get it. I wouldn't worry too much. That is so sweet of your grandson.
